It’s common for servers to have a standard forehand (eastern) grip… Whilst this is ok and you can still serve this way and get the ball in… it is limiting… Firstly, it stops potential power as the handle would go straight into your wrist stopping the natural pronation of a serve.

Also, it’s incredibly difficult to add spin to your serve (which is the safety net to any serve) The key is to have a continental (chopper, handshake etc) grip this allows you to add spin and power to your serve. This will take time and practise to correct but it is defiantly possible. and remember…
